What it is

A press brake folds your flat, laser cut part to precise angles, turning it into a bracket, channel or box.

Best for

Brackets, angles, channels, enclosures and covers.

What you need

A STEP file for bent parts, or a flat DXF with bend lines marked.

How bending works with your order

Upload a 3D file (STEP) with your bends modelled, or a flat DXF with bend lines marked. We check that each bend is possible with our tooling before you pay, and price each bend as its own line.

Capacity

Max thickness, mild steel[X]"
Max thickness, aluminum[X]"
Angle tolerance±[X]°

Design tips for clean bends

Keep holes at least 2.5 times the material thickness away from a bend line so they don't stretch. Make flanges at least 4 times the material thickness long. Add bend relief cuts where a bend meets an edge. Full rules are in our design guidelines.

Common bent parts

Brackets, channels, enclosures and covers, angle and Z-shapes, electrical boxes, shelves, trim and flashing.

How it works

How sheet metal bending works

  1. We cut the flat shape

Your part is laser cut flat first, with the bend lines in the right place.

  2. The press brake folds it

A CNC press brake bends each line to the exact angle you need.

  3. We check every angle

Angles and lengths are measured before your parts ship.

  4. Ready to install or finish

Add powder coating or galvanizing in the same order.

Quick answers

Do I need a 3D file for bending?

A STEP file is best. A flat DXF with bend lines on a separate layer also works.

How much does bending add?

Each bend is priced in your quote. The more parts in your order, the less each bend costs.

Can you bend and then powder coat?

Yes. Cut, bend and coat in one order.
